8 New iOS 12 Features That Make Your iPhone Better

IOS 12 Apple is significantly improving its mobile operating system, including faster iPhone performance, redesigned base applications, new Siri predictive capabilities, and even health-conscious tools that help users more aware of the moment they spend on their devices.

The full version of iOS 12 will come later this year. But if I can not wait until then, the public beta version of the new operating system is now available. If you decide to download the beta version, here are some key new features you should check.

Faster performance

Apple said that performance improvement was a major focus for iOS 12, not only in the latest models with the best hardware but especially in the older ones. In fact, the company has highlighted an example that would show iPhone 6 Plus, which offers 40% faster application launches, 50% faster boot times, and 70% faster boot times. from the lock screen with iOS 12.

If you have a newer iPhone, you should see notable speed gains. In early stress tests, Apple quotes shared action sheets and applications running twice as fast as iOS 11 on the latest hardware. The processor will also boost performance in iOS 11 much faster and turn off just as fast to save as much battery power as possible.

Best answers in an emergency

An Apple is not just interested in improving your phone's performance on iOS 12. The new operating system will also include an update of the hybrid emergency localization system (HELO) to automatically share your location with the services of an emergency. This is a fundamental improvement for mobile devices that are not linked to a fixed address, so 911 operators can only see the nearest mobile tower instead of a specific location. Apple tries to solve this problem by adding data from GPS and Wi-Fi access points to give you a better idea of where you are when you make an emergency call.

Siri abbreviations and suggestions

Do you remember the workflow? Apple bought the developers behind the popular automation app years ago, and Siri shortcuts work similarly. Users can create action progress in applications that are automatically transmitted when certain conditions are met, such as: For example, sending messages to someone, setting the thermostat, and activating your favorite podcast when leaving work. (A special linking application is not yet part of the public beta).

There are also Siri suggestions that serve as contextual recommendations for some scenarios. For example, if Siri knows she has a calendar appointment to watch a movie, she recommends activating Do Not Disturb mode when she starts.

Digital health and screen time

Responsible for using phones and apps have been a hot topic lately, with Google implementing its own well-being of the Android user initiative with P. 11 iOS also introduces digital health that manifests itself in the system Apple's mobile operating system in several ways. There is a screen time that allows you to limit the scope of use of certain applications. You can also monitor your habits using a weekly activity report that includes information about the apps that dominate the screen, the time and battery, and most notifications.

Speaking of notifications, iOS 12 will now display screen lock notifications during the night without waking up the entire screen. If you have activated this feature, a warning will appear on the lock screen, at least during sleep, for example: For example, a simple white text on a dark black background illuminating the room. And when you wake up, you'll see a good morning message showing time and everything you might have missed.

Memoji and Animoji

Apple copies to Samsung by copying Apple: It's a way to see Memoji, a new form of Animoji that you design yourself. Similar to the Samsung Emoji AR feature in the Galaxy S9, you can create your memoji with a selection of hairstyles, skin tones, glasses, hats and more. And as you create your memoji, you can see your virtual shape take shape in real time, mimic your movements, and
However, we expect the Memoji to look smoother than the artificial and artificial Samsung Animoji.

In iOS 12, four new Animoji are added: Tiger, T-Rex, Ghost, and Koala. Then there is the strange and strange addition of Tongue Detection, which Apple found strange at the time of the presentation. The recognition of the language is exactly what it seems: you take out the language and your Animoji (or Memoji) will do it too. If you send selfies to a friend in iMessage, you can also arrange your memoji in a picture upside down.

FaceTime Group

Apple finally adds a much-anticipated feature to FaceTime: group calls. Now up to 32 people can join the same FaceTime call. And each user can use a number of camera effects that are new to iOS and iMessage. You can replace your head with an animoji or a memoji or use artistic filters for a cartoon effect. And FaceTime is now integrated with iMessage, so you can instantly and easily start a FaceTime call with an existing iMessage group at the push of a button.

Photo suggestions and new search

Apple adds a new "For You" tab to show the recommendations in the iOS 12 Photos application. From this screen, your iPhone gives you the ability to share photos with the contacts of your contacts that you recognize in your photos. And if you share these photos, your friends and family at the reception will receive a suggestion to share your photos. In addition, iOS 12 also provides a super-compressed search to facilitate browsing the extensive library of photos collected over the years.

Third party maps on CarPlay

Here's a big one for the drivers. CarPlay has long restricted navigation to Apple Maps, which was frustrating for most users who rely on apps like Google Maps and Waze that offer wider functionality in the car. Android Auto does not have that limitation, and now, fortunately, Apple is raising its. Google Maps and Waze support CarPlay on iOS 12 devices so you can use the navigation app of your choice.

Galaxy Note 9 will be a Killer Feature Just Leaked

Samsung is considering a major overhaul of the Galaxy Note 9 S Pen, offering the biggest phone update of the year.

On Twitter, leading researcher Ice Universe, known for the leaked details of Samsung's smartphone, said on Sunday that the "Galaxy Note 9 S Pen is a pen with soul." He added that this would provide "the biggest update in the history of the S Pen".

Unfortunately, Ice Universe did not shed light on what the S Pen could offer. But a Samsung tracking website called AllAboutSamsung claims to have received details about the company's plans for the S Pen.

This site said the S Pen will come with Bluetooth support and will have a speaker and a microphone. Together, the features allow you to make and receive calls from your S Pen instead of holding your smartphone. According to the report, it is also possible that the Samsung S Pen has a feature that allows you to write on physical paper and display this result on the Galaxy Note 9 screen.

The Samsung S Pen has received only iterative updates in recent years and has not developed much of its primary function as a tool for creating notes on the screen and drawing, although the recently added addition of live posts in Note 8 Sharp Things in the Air Adding text-to-digital text and making calls would be an important update and would make your smartphone stand out from the Galaxy S9.

The Galaxy Note 9 should not change much this year. The device is reported to have a design that is almost identical to the Galaxy Note 8 last year and is likely to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The other big update will be a new version of Bixby from Samsung. assistant

Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Note 9 in August and launch the smartphone in late August or early September.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Rumors: Release Date, Specs and More

The Galaxy Note 8 has proven that Samsung can recover from the debacle of the Galaxy Note 7. For the Galaxy Note 9, expect a more powerful widescreen camera with improved cameras and a new Bixby Assistant.

Note 9 must also be announced before the previous phones in the area. Here is everything we know so far.

Last update (June 25)

The stylus could get a new feature with the Galaxy Note 9, which greatly increases its performance. The phone accessory can receive Bluetooth connectivity, which opens up a number of possible functions for the next note.
Apparently, a filtered image of the Touch 9 screen shows a screen very similar to the Note 8 look, but with finer bevels.

Note 9 Release date: 9th of August

The Galaxy Note 8 was launched in September last year after a launch event in late August. The investor's report indicated that Samsung would see an earlier release date, and now we have additional details courtesy of Bloomberg, who says that August 9 is the date the new phone will be released. Note 9 would then arrive on the shelves before the end of August.

The move could also help Samsung avoid possible direct competition with the next wave of Apple iPhones, which could be launched in September.

While other reports indicate that Samsung announced the phone in August, not everyone is convinced. A report from Korea discovered by Sammobile suggests that in Note 9, Samsung could use a thinner OLED display to track the rival products of Chinese phone manufacturers Oppo and Vivo. Such a step would increase the start date. Logically, the logic would dictate that it's a bit late in the game to make such a big change, so the date Aug. 9 reported by Bloomberg seems as solid as any rumor we've heard so far.

Possible specifications of Galaxy Note 9

According to rumors, there should not be too many surprises in the Galaxy Note 9 campaign.

Samsung is expected to launch the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor into the phone, according to benchmark tests recently filtered in HTML5Test. This chip has some impressive numbers in our benchmark tests of the Galaxy S9, although the overall performance does not reach the Bionic A11 chip of the iPhone X.

The Galaxy Note 8 comes with 6GB of RAM, but other phones like the OnePlus 6 come with up to 8GB, so it'll be interesting to see if Samsung offers this option.

We hope for an improvement in warehousing. And a new leak points to the Galaxy Note 9, which gets just that; The high-end model could have up to 512 GB of storage space.

As with the Galaxy Note 8, a large screen with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 is waiting for you. However, it is not yet known exactly how big this screen will be, although the first rumors on the SamMobile page are pointing to one 6.4-inch screen. This 6.4-inch screen size is supported by a report from the Korea Bell.

The battery, which still plays an important role in Samsung Note phones, will be a 4000 mAh power supply, according to IceUniverse's Twitter filter. This is a leap from the Galaxy Note 8's 3,300mAh battery. This larger battery could force Samsung to change the Note 9 design somewhat, Sammoible adds, and the company also chooses horizontally-oriented cameras for other modest changes.

Bloomberg's report on the release date of Note 9 shows that Samsung will focus on improving the camera this year. It looks like Note 9 could take on some of the camera enhancements introduced earlier this year with the Galaxy S9, including a variable aperture for better shooting in low light and multi-frame noise reduction environments.

A renovated Bixby

According to a report by the Korea Herald in an interview, the director of the Samsung IA Research Center, Gray G. Lee, said that the Galaxy Note 9 would be accompanied by a new generation of artificial intelligence from the company. He said the features will be included in Bixby 2.0, which will debut on the Galaxy Note 9.

"Samsung's AI Vision has five directions: user-centered, always learning, always there, always useful and always safe," Lee said in an interview, according to Slashgear.

The latest leak from OnLeaks suggests that Note 8 could have a square design with two horizontally aligned cameras on the back. The fingerprint sensor would be below this range.

However, not everyone expects the design to change that way. Leaker Ice Universe tweeted at the end of March that the design of the new Phablette was "compatible with the S9". He also said he would use the same cameras as the Galaxy S9 +. According to Ice Universe reports, Samsung was able to record its serious updates to the Galaxy S10 in 2019.

The latest filtered design, also by Ice Universe, shows a windshield that looks very similar to the Galaxy Note 8. However, the chamfers appear thinner on the new phone, so BGR. This would allow a slight increase in screen size without making Note 9 greater than Grade 8. Samsung has done a similar trick with the Galaxy S9, while reducing the slanted surfaces of the S8, the size of the screen will remain the same; who made a more compact phone.

Galaxy Note 9 price?

It's too early to say how Samsung will give the Galaxy Note 9 a prize, but if the story is a guide, it will be in the same range from $ 930 to $ 960 as the current Note 8.

The Galaxy S9 has a starting price of $ 720 and the S9 + of $ 840, so it's reasonable to expect that Note 9 will balance out a similar premium of $ 100 compared to the larger S9 +.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Review: Record-Breaking Speed, Samsung-Beating Cameras

You have to be a little jealous. The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are in the shadow of the next iPhone X, with a futuristic screen and a new front camera with depth detection, which allows you to unlock the phone with your face.
But the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are not mere consolation prizes for Apple's flagship. They contain a lot of improvements, including the fastest processor ever in a phone (seriously, many laptops are ashamed), better cameras (especially in the iPhone 8 Plus) and wireless charging (yes, it has expired)
.

image: variety.com

Starting at $ 699 and $ 799, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are also cheaper than the $ 999 X iPhone. When you're ready to upgrade your iPhone, our main pick remains the plus with its larger screen, longer battery life, and versatile dual cameras.

Design: Slicker and harder, but on these chamfers

I am torn apart by the appearance of new iPhones. On the one hand, the new glass bottom is smooth and less slippery than my matte black iPhone 7 Plus. The new Apple phones are also being built stronger, and the company claims that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have the toughest glass that exists in a smartphone. This is partly due to a deeper reinforcing layer. (See more on this.)

On the other hand, such levels can be seen on a cell phone in late 2017 above and below the screen, not just with the iPhone X, but also with the Galaxy S8 and other cell phones outdated Android that follows the street. My complaint is not just about aesthetics. With smaller bevels, the use of a phone makes it easier with one hand and puts it in a front pocket.
I like the way the strong 7000 aluminum bracelet on the iPhone 8 is colored with the pearly back. In the iPhone 8 Plus Gold, I've tried, the back looks like real rose gold and less pink than the previous model. I've also tried the iPhone 8 Silver, whose back is a less exciting gray. The new iPhones are also available in Space Gray.

For us minimalists, there is no small guy who says where this device or its model number stands under the word iPhone. Now just say iPhone.
With a size of 5.5 x 2.7 x 0.29 inches and a weight of 5.2 ounces, the iPhone 8 is a bit heavier and a bit thicker than the iPhone 7 (5.4 x 2, 6 x 0, 28 inches, 4.9 ounces), but I hardly noticed a difference. I think the extra benefit comes from the extra wireless charging capability and the reinforced glass carrier. The iPhone 8 Plus (7.1 ounces, 0.3 inches thick) sees a similar small increase on the iPhone 7 Plus (6.6 ounces, 0.29 inches).

Durability: hardly hard

We tested the hardness of the iPhone 8 by placing it on the wood from a height of 4 feet and 6 feet on the face; then we drop it to its edge and look at the concrete of 4 feet; then drop it on its edge and face 6 feet on the concrete.

The iPhone 8 has survived 4 and 6 foot drops on the wood without causing any damage. A 4-foot drop on the edge of the concrete causes a small crack and scratches along the bottom, which grew with a 4-foot drop on the concrete.

Performance: A11 Bionic destroys everything (including laptops)
If there is already a correct name for a processor, A11 is Bionic. This chip absolutely smokes all Android phones on the planet. The A11 Bionic is a six-core processor with two power cores that promise a 25% performance increase over the A10, and four high-efficiency cores that promise up to 70% improvement. Last but not least, this is an Apple-designed GPU that's supposed to be 30% faster.

Battery life: Plus lasts longer

Despite the significantly increased speed, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus offer a slightly longer resistance than its predecessors, which is remarkable, since Apple has promised a similar life as the battery of the iPhone 7 and 7 plus with your new phones

Cameras: Meet and win sometimes the best of Samsung

With a larger and faster sensor, the 12-megapixel camera of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus picks up some of the most attractive images I've seen from a cell phone. In fact, some of the images I've taken have overshadowed the stellar Galaxy Note 8, which was previously our popular camera phone. Now the iPhone 8 Plus comes first, and you can see our camera face-to-face with the 8 note to see the results for yourself.

8 reasons to buy the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

The iPhone 8 ($ 699) and the iPhone 8 Plus ($ 799) sound familiar, but contain many improvements to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus on the inside and even on the outside. There is an innovative Bionic A11 processor, cameras with faster and larger sensors and wireless charging. However, these flagships are definitely not perfect, and even the heavily publicized iPhone X is on the way.

Here are some reasons why you should buy the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, and a few reasons why you should think twice.

The fastest phones of all time

The Bionic A11 chip in the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is the strongest we've ever seen. This processor not only eliminated the Android competition in synthetic reference points such as Geekbench and 3DMark but also outperformed the performance of the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 in video editing. This speed advantage is especially important when considering the types of resources that augmented reality applications require. Here you can see all results of the speed test of the iPhone 8.

The best cameras

After comparing photos alongside the Galaxy Note 8 on a face-to-face camera, I hope I can say that the iPhone 8 Plus now has the best camera on every phone. The iPhone 8 also produces great pictures, but dual lenses are not achieved on the smaller iPhone. I prefer the plus because the telephoto lens allows both 2x optical zoom and ingenious portrait mode.

Wireless charging
(finally)

As someone who has crossed more Lightning cables than I can count, it's good to know that Apple finally supports Qi wireless charging on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. This means that you can use Belkin Qi loading platform, Mophie, and others. We've put together some of the best wireless chargers, but if you want fast wireless charging, look for a base that produces 7.5 watts.

More sustainable designs

With a new reinforcing layer, Apple says the glass on the front and back of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is the most durable glass on a smartphone. (We'll test it soon.) In addition, the 7000 Series aluminum strip surrounding the new iPhones is extremely strong.

You may not need a case, but if you still want one, we have some recommendations for iPhone 8 cases and you can charge the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus wirelessly a holster.

Big battery life (better in the plus)

Despite its unparalleled speed, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus are also very efficient and last longer than their paying predecessors. The smallest iPhone 8 took 9 hours and 54 minutes in the battery test of Tom's Guide, which includes continuous internet surfing via LTE. It's better than the average smartphone at 9:40.

The iPhone 8 Plus offers greater strength as the phablet lasted 11 hours and 16 minutes. This leads the most to our list of more durable smartphones.

Top speakers

Whether you're dreaming of Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora or something else - you'll enjoy the loud and powerful sound of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The stereo speakers of new phones get 25% more volume than before and the sound is richer at the bottom so you can enjoy more natural voices.

The Fastest Phones in the world are iPhone X and iPhone 8(It's Not Even Close)

The A11 Bionic is a six-core processor with two performance cores that promise a 25% increase in performance, and four high-performance cores that promise up to 70% improvement over the A10 chip. Fusion of the iPhone 7th Last but not least, it is an Apple-designed GPU, which should be 30% faster than before.

Let's start with Geekbench 4, which measures the overall performance. In the multi-core part of this test, the iPhone has reached 8 10,170, which is 54% faster than the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, currently the fastest Android phone. The iPhone X has 10,357 in the same test.

The Android contest was not close. The 8th grade received a score of 6,564, with an impressive 6GB of RAM combined with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. How about the OnePlus 5 and its 8GB RAM and Snapdragon 835? This phone has 6,542. With 4GB of RAM, the Galaxy S8 has 6.295 with the same processor.

MOREiPhone 8 and 8 Plus Review: Record-Breaking Speed, Samsung-Beating Cameras

With a seventh-generation Core i5 processor, the iPhone 8 even surpassed the 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro. This notebook has 9,213. Is Geekbench 4 really comparable from the phone to the office? According to Geekbench founder John Poole, "the abstract is the affirmative answer that the results are comparable on all platforms, so if an iPhone 8 gets a higher score than an i5, the iPhone 8 is faster than the i5".

However, Poole has issued the important warning that laptops can deliver better performance over a longer period of time compared to the shorter maximum burst performance benchmarks like the Geekbench 4 are designed for. In other words, the iPhone 8 simply did not need the thermal currents and heat dissipation to replace your laptop.

The next step is 3DMark, which measures the performance of graphics. The iPhone 8 has taken 62,212 from the list, and the iPhone 8 Plus has even reached 64,412 more. Compare that to 39,834 of Note 8 and 39,576 from OnePlus 5.

If you're wondering how this all translates into real performance, we have more good news for iPhone 8 buyers and bad news for all. To really bring the Bionic A11 chip to its own pace, we have the same 2-minute video, taken in 4K by a drone, on the iPhone 8, Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 +, and then add the same transitions and Add effects Export and save the video

The iPhone 8 and iPhone X completed this difficult task in just 42 seconds, while note 8 lasted more than 3 minutes. The Galaxy S8 + took more than 4 minutes.

How about opening a large file? We downloaded a 5.1 MB PDF map illustration for the iPhone 8 and Galaxy Note 8 and opened it from their original file managers: the Apple Files application and the My Files application. The iPhone 8 had an average of less than 0.8 seconds, while the grade 8 averaged 6.41 seconds.

The iPhone 8 has now opened even more demanding applications faster than its predecessor and the main Android phone, though these differences were less dramatic. It took 11 seconds for the iPhone 8 to fully charge the Injustice 2 game, 14.53 seconds for the iPhone 7 Plus and 19 seconds for the Note 8.

In the battle between Apple and Samsung for the best smartphone, Apple now has the edge with the flagship iPhone 5.8 inches X. It needs a sizable premium on the $ 999 but returns to the OLED screen of the best we have tasted along with the camera notch and innovative features like the Face ID. In addition, this flagship processor A11 Bionics (also the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus) annoys all Android phones.

Huawei P20 Pro vs Pixel 2 XL vs Galaxy S9+ vs iPhone X: low-light camera shoot-out

What my colleagues refer to as "Amateur Photographer" (aka boring fan of the camera) and someone who loved the 20MP monochrome cameras in Huawei P9 and P10, I'm glad to know that the Huawei P20 Pro comes with three cameras and a massive sensor ( for current smartphones) of 1 / 1.7 inches for better performance in low light. Not to mention the f / 1.8 aperture, which is not the lowest f-number we've ever seen on a smartphone, but thanks to the larger area of the sensor surface.

So, of course, I could not wait until I got hold of the P20 Pro and took it out for some night shots, along with some of the other high-end smartphone cameras. And that's exactly what I've done, and now there are questions I'd like to ask, and I'll try to answer the poor performance of the P20 Pro. Is that really the best? Or is it great in some areas when it is not so decent in others? The answers to these questions and more can be found here! It is Huawei P20 Pro against the Samsung Galaxy S9 +, the iPhone X and the Pixel 2 XL: shots in low light.

Before we begin the correct comparison and before we can answer the question above, we need to better analyze how the P20 Pro "Night" camera mode works. To see how it differs from the normal "photo" mode, I decide to take two pictures in two different modes before it's completely black. Turns out, it's a great way to get a better idea of how the "night" mode works because some things become less obvious when there's no more light in the sky. Let's take a look at these two pictures:

How the "Night" mode works on the Huawei P20 Pro (version too long - it does not matter):

The camera takes several pictures with different exposures, starting with underexposed exposure, correct exposure, and overexposure. This is called an exposure bracketing and is designed so that the software, when combining the images, can extract details in the shadows of the overexposed photos and detail the highlights of underexposed images. This process takes 5 seconds and the image resolution is limited to 10 MP.
The shots are mixed (or stacked) to create an HDR image
Aggressive noise reduction is applied
The result is "sharpened" by local adjustments of contrast and texture. These mainly affect the midtones and create the illusion of a sharper image.

As you can see in the previous example, Huawei's processing techniques are quite aggressive, although they help in low light conditions. This example only serves to better illustrate what goes on behind curtains, because very dark environments are not well suited for a granular inspection. Nonetheless, for the remainder of this comparison, we will be shooting in the "night" mode on the P20 Pro, as this is the mode used during night photography. However, in some scenes we will also try the normal "Photo" mode, and we will even enable the 40MP setting that would otherwise be unavailable when shooting in the "Night" mode.

Now let's start with a real comparison to see how the Huawei P20 Pro compares to the best smartphone cameras on the market when it comes to night photography.

As usual with our shots with low light, we start at dusk. That way we can see the performance of each camera change as we go through the dusk, then we go after the night.

From the beginning, Scene 1 is a disaster for Huawei P20 Pro, with Pixel 2 XL and Galaxy S9 + producing the most attractive images, followed by the X. iPhone It is difficult to choose between the pixels and S9 +, as they are different in different areas. The more distant details of the scene have a better definition in the Galaxy S9 +, while the foreground, the fonts on the train, for example, appear more natural than the pixel. The S9 + photo also shows ring artifacts around some of the darker edges (these are the lines of light that appear as a result of an aggressive approach) that can cause some people to disconnect.

This complex scene allows us to better understand how each phone deals with details.

Here, the P20 Pro produces a picture without noise, but at the expense of finer details. If you take a close look at the P20 Pro photo, and in particular the spot color areas, you will notice that there is no noise. Not at all. Completely clean Compared with the S9 shot, however, we find that this adds up to a smoother picture throughout the image area. Whether you like it or not, it's up to you.

This scene shows how each of the four cameras deals with distant and complex topics.

As we move in the scenes, we will not discuss in detail, since we have already defined the defining characteristics of each camera. In addition, some pictures speak for themselves.

Well, it's interesting. Here, the Huawei P20 Pro really creates some details from the sky. Overall, the picture looks very good when viewed on a small screen, and only tracks pixels 2 XL in terms of perceived sharpness. However, as we get closer, it's obvious that Huawei's aggressive noise cancellation has crowned the actual details in the P20 Pro jack. The perception of the image impact is the result of local contrast settings that produce better contrast in halftones without preventing reflections.

In this scene I was interested to see how the normal "Photo" mode in the P20 Pro fairs with a resolution of 40MP, and well, the results were quite disappointing. The background is not only much darker, because there is no bracketing, but the whole picture is very, very soft. I had to take it back and thought that something had gone wrong the first time, but all the successive pictures were just as smooth. Then, as I looked at all the pictures on my monitor, I thought it would be fun to do a little experiment: Take the pixel 2 image from that scene and enlarge it to the 40MP resolution of the Huawei photo. Well, here's a harvest:

The funny part (or sadly, depending on how you look at it) is that even when expanded from 12MP to 40MP, the Pixel 2 XL photo is much sharper than the P20 Pro image. Experience fun, of course, to see how the latest flagship Huawei works in the usual mode "photo" at night. However, it's also a great way to see how the P20 Pro is based on noise reduction to deliver soft-looking photos and feel like real details. In 10MP you can not distinguish most of the details lost in the process, but at 40MP it becomes obvious. As we've already seen, the P20 Pro manages to outperform the competition in some areas in "night" mode, and Scene 5 is really beautiful on the P20 Pro's 6-inch screen. And that's the eternal dilemma if you want your photos to be beautiful on your phone screen or on a larger screen.

Best shots: Pixel 2 XL and Huawei P20 Pro

Why Samsung Galaxy S9 Camera Has A Secret Weapon

The latest Samsung Galaxy S9 (and S9 Plus) phones have a big advantage over the competition: the camera.

The Galaxy S9 and its older brother, the Galaxy S9 +, have a new radical camera with adjustable aperture, which is the first of a conventional smartphone. Note that this is not the first on a smartphone: This award goes to Samsung's own W2018, which was launched exclusively in China last year. Technically speaking, we could go back to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1, launched in 2014, but mainly marketed as a camera rather than a smartphone.

So, what is an adjustable opening and what does it matter?

The opening of the lens is simply a hole through which the light passes through the lens and sensor of the camera. The bigger the hole, the more light it can go through. Aperture sizes are measured in diaphragms, and, possibly opposite, smaller numbers correspond to larger apertures and more passing light.

Like the W2018, the Galaxy S9 has a super-bright lens with an aperture of f / 1.5, the largest aperture on any smartphone. This provides a clear advantage in low-light situations where smartphone cameras often have trouble creating a clear picture.

When shooting in bright situations, such as in the middle of the day, many cameras have the opposite problem: too much light. This can overwhelm the sensor and produce a washed image.

The S9 camera tries to avoid this by using a variable size mechanical shutter that can switch between f / 1.5 and f / 2.4. The change to f / 2.4 reduces the amount of light by more than half compared to f / 1.5. The human eye does a similar trick by varying the size of the pupil according to the amount of light available.

Everything is fine, but electronic shutters in smartphones are usually able to alleviate excessively bright conditions by capturing light over a very short period of time. The sensor takes time to respond to incident light. Turning off early reduces the amount of light. For this reason, we do not hear many complaints from smartphone users that they can not take good pictures on sunny days.

Simply reducing the amount of light absorbed is not enough to implement something as complicated as a variable mechanical opening.

However, there are two other important effects that occur when you change the size of the opening. The first is an important difference in the appearance of large aperture images.

A larger aperture such as f / 1.5 causes a greater distinction between the focused or blurred portions of the image. This quality is often desirable in portraits where the subject "jumps" from the background.

However, smartphone lenses are so small that even a 1: 1.5 aperture does not give much of an emergent effect, except extreme close-ups. Here are two camera settings and artificially created effects such as the portrait mode of the iPhone into play.

Therefore, the variable aperture will not dramatically improve the "portrait" effect (although it may give a little more drive to software-based techniques).

As smartphone lens apertures become more prevalent through the use of low light shots, there is an increasing risk of compromising the quality of daytime photography by using an unnecessarily large aperture. This is where the Galaxy S9's variable iris is used to achieve the best possible image quality in a variety of lighting conditions.

We will have to wait for extensive testing before we know if a variable opening offers real improvements or just a marketing gimmick?

6.5-inch ‘iPhone X Plus’ to come in gold color option

According to a new report shared on Monday by Bloomberg, Apple could add a golden color option to the upcoming "iPhone X Plus," making the X Plus Apple the "Biggest iPhone in History" with a screen size of almost 6 inches

The "iPhone X Plus", which has the internal code name "D33" will have a screen resolution of 1242 x 2688 and may use a dual SIM card, which allows users to easily change when traveling. Bloomberg notes, however, that it is not yet clear whether the company will continue with the dual-SIM feature.

On Monday, Apple Post allegedly shared images of LG screen production in Vietnam, offering our first 6.5-inch rumor preview of Apple's "Apple iPhone X Plus."

Apple reportedly wanted to launch a gold iPhone X, but had to give up plans because of "production issues," but Apple is now ready to launch the new color with the launch of "iPhone X Plus."

Apple is expected to suspend iPhone X later this year when the company introduces its iPhone 2018 series, rather than continuing the tradition of reselling old equipment at a reduced price.

The iPhone X Plus is expected to be launched with an updated iPhone X and a low-priced 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD screen with a metal bracket similar to the iPhone 7 and the true-depth camera system for Face-ID of the iPhone X ,

Apple to remove iTunes Store support from older Windows PCs and Apple TVs

In a recent article published by Apple, the company will discontinue support for the iTunes Store on Windows XP and Vista PCs and the first generation of Apple TV. The company in Cupertino says the next changes are due to security updates that will come into force on May 25th.

According to Apple, recently introduced security changes prevent old PCs from accessing the iTunes Store. Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer officially compatible with Microsoft and the latest version of iTunes is not even available for these operating systems.

"As of May 25, Apple will introduce security changes that prevent more than Windows PCs with the iTunes Store. If you have a PC running Windows XP or Vista, your computer will be more supported by Microsoft and will not be able to use the latest version of iTunes "

"You can still use older versions of iTunes on your Windows PC without Apple support, but you can not make new purchases in the iTunes Store or download new purchases to this computer."

In addition, Apple TV of the first generation loses support for the iTunes Store. This comes after Apple said the first generation of Apple TV was "out of date" in 2015.

"As of May 25, Apple's first-generation Apple TV will be prevented from using the iTunes Store, which is an obsolete Apple product and will not be updated, to support these security changes."

Sony's Xperia Ear Duo Lets the Outside World In

Most wireless headsets are designed to block the world around you, but Sony is taking a different path with its Xperia Ear Duo.

The Ear Duo, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress on Monday, February 26th, is the evolution of the Sony Xperia Ear Style Bluetooth Earphones that were previously made but never programmed for the first time. Production. They look rather unusual compared to conventional earphones because the same buds are hollowed out to let in outside sounds.

The main goal is to mix the ambient noise with the music you like or the notifications you do not want to miss. The Ear Duo automatically adjusts the headphone volume to suit the environment. Then, when you leave a busy street, Ear Duo will raise your songs to make up for it.

I had the opportunity to use the ear duo while talking to a Sony representative, and I was able to continue the whole conversation while listening. It's a strange sensation, and you should not expect the same clarity you would get, even with standard headphones that do not support active noise reduction. It was almost like being in a room where music was played, but I was the only one who could hear it. It has a purpose, although I certainly do not want it on my return flight from Barcelona.

Sony does not release the Ear Duo as a portable device, but there is clearly a use case for cyclists and runners who prefer to train with music but can not afford to completely block their environment for the sake of safety. Although not completely waterproof, the Ear Duo features a splash-proof IPX2 rating.

In addition to music, Ear Duo's daily assistance feature has been developed to provide you with relevant information depending on the context. When you arrive at the office, you will be reminded of your next meeting. Gesture support also means that you can accept and reject calls simply by shaking your head. You can skip songs by shaking and touching them from side to side and dragging them on the device to start playback, pause, adjust the volume and much more. And of course, there is support for virtual assistants like Google Assistant and Siri.

Given its versatility, Sony expects customers to use the Ear Duo throughout the day so you can remove multiple costs from the Ear Duo case. The device lasts four hours with a single charge, but its batteries can be filled three times longer in that case. And thanks to the fast charge it only takes 12 minutes to hear two extra hours.

The ear duo will sell for $ 279 and begin shipping to the United States. UU end of May. Expected orders will start today at Amazon.

iPhone X Plus Display Leaked: Here's What It Looks Like

It is said that Apple will be working on three models of the iPhone for this year, including one that could include a large screen version of the iPhone X. And now let's take a look at this screen.

A picture was revealed in the MacX forums of a person holding an iPhone X screen. Although it is difficult to see from the picture exactly what model it could be designed for, these are the ones that have been said in the forum It is clearly large for the person's hand and should be the screen of an iPhone X Plus.

According to MacRumors, who has already reported on the leak, the person who had actually posted the picture said the screen was taken from a production line at an LG facility in Vietnam. It is a "Test of operation of the equipment of production", specified the person.

If it really is the real business and there is no way to prove it, there are certain things we can deduce from the flight. On the one hand, it seems that the notch leads nowhere. According to previous rumors, it seems that Apple could lose the size of the notch, which makes it a bit cheaper when using the phone.

It's also worth noting that the screen seems to be bigger than the iPhone X and seems a bit wider.

More: The Most Expected Phones Of 2018

Apple has been rumored for months to work on three new iPhones this year. One of them will be a small update for last year's iPhone X, with a 5.8-inch OLED display. Apple could also work on a cheaper option with a 6.1-inch LCD screen that will come with a similar design to the iPhone X. The largest of the group and one who has apparently invaded the MacX forums is using an OLED screen 6.5 inches. It will also have an iPhone X design.

IPhones should be revealed in September.

Of course, it is impossible to know with certainty if the screen of the iPhone is real. However, the poster has published other images that indicate the possibility of its legitimacy.

On the one hand, a number is printed on the flexible cable connected to the screen, and it has a similar format to the flexible cables of the earlier Apple phones, MacRumors said. In addition, the other images suggest a component design similar to the iPhone X. Eventually, the picture would have arisen during an LG installation in Vietnam, where it is said that the next Apple screens are being produced.

Galaxy S9 vs. Galaxy S8: Go New or Save Money?

Launching later this month, the Galaxy S9 offers more advanced cameras, a more powerful and efficient processor ... and good value for money. While Samsung has not announced any official details about its next smartphone, except that a launch event is scheduled for Feb. 25, rumors about the S9 indicate that a price hike is being prepared.

Specifically, the Galaxy S9 could even cost $ 100 more than its predecessor, according to a tech radar report. That would mean that I would need $ 850 to get the last and best hands from Samsung.

But you do not necessarily have to give up a large amount of cash just to get a high-end flagship phone. There's a perfect smartphone on the market right now, and you're likely to see a big price cut in the coming weeks.

That would be the Galaxy S8, the model that the next S9 wants to put aside.

It seems counterproductive for the phone year last year, when the S9 promises improved specifications, especially when it comes to the cameras of the device. But the S8 is a pretty impressive phone in itself, as it was our best-placed smartphone for most of 2017. And soon you can buy one for a lot less than you had to pay a few weeks ago.

Here is a closer look at what you can save by choosing a newer S9 for a Galaxy S8, along with what you can possibly do for a lower price.

    Galaxy S8 Price: go down
Nobody can say for sure how much the Galaxy S8 will cost as soon as the S9 makes its debut. However, if the previous prices for previous product launches are an indicator, this S8 price could be quickly reduced.

This happened a year ago when the Galaxy S8 debuted and the Galaxy S7 suddenly became a less hot commodity, said Lindsay Sakraida, Director of Content Marketing at Deal DealNews. "Last year, after the S8 was announced, we found offers on the 32G S7 that were unlocked for only $ 380, which was $ 370 off the list price," said Sakraida Tom's Guide. "We also saw the 128 GB version for $ 570. So before [S8] was available in stores, we could only see discounts on the unlocked S7."

That changed when the S8 came on the market in April 2017. At the time, according to Sakraida, mobile operators reduced the monthly payment of the S7 purchased in the payment plans. The S7, which had a starting price of $ 670, fell to about $ 575- $ 600 in the months following the launch of S8, according to DealNews. These days you can find the S7 for $ 449 on Amazon.

The CamelCamelCamel price tracking website supports this data and shows the price of the third-party Galaxy S7, which suffered a noticeable decline (see below) in the spring of 2017 when the S8 hit the market. The prices of even older models like the Galaxy S6 follow a similar trend.

Overall, phone prices fall 15 percent in 12 months, said Christine Gallup, associate publisher on the whistle out cellphone comparison site.

The price decline in the S8 had been somewhat atypical, Sakraida told DealNews. "The S7 was an excellent phone, but for many buyers, the Note 7 fiasco was a bit stuck, so it was possible that the S7 was lowered more aggressively than the S8 when the S9 was announced," he added.

According to Sakraida, after the S9 announcement, you should look for discounts on the S8, with lower monthly payments on the old phone coming from the operators as soon as the S9 sends off.

    What you give up
So, if you choose the Galaxy S8, you'll get a less expensive phone than the newer S9, potentially $ 200 cheaper, depending on what Samsung calculates for the S9 and what the discounts on the S8 are. What qualities do you sacrifice in the name of lesser costs?

After Samsung's invitation to his February 25th, which promises a newly invented the camera, you can expect the main improvements to focus on photography. The Galaxy S9 features a 12-megapixel rear trigger with an adjustable iris: in low-light environments, the iris is expanded to f / 1.5, while it can be reduced to f / 2.4 in wide-angle shots. It is expected that the S9 still has a unique reversing camera, with twin lenses on the larger Galaxy S9 + (and more expensive). "

The alleged leaked photo samples for the Galaxy S9 look pretty impressive, and Samsung has released some videos that tease the camera’s improved performance.

It's almost certain that the Galaxy S9 will be equipped with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 845 platform. We compared the Snapdragon 845, which will certainly provide more thrust than the Snapdragon 835 Galaxy S8. It also has better results in graphics testing and, perhaps most importantly, it's more energy efficient, which will help the S9 improve the battery life of the S8.

Finally, the Galaxy S9 will run the latest version of Android. While Android Oreo has been available since last fall, it has not yet found its way to the Galaxy S8, Samsung has released a beta version of the planned update for its flagship.

But should the S9 mimic the look of the Galaxy S8 on its extra-large infinity screen, is it enough to pay for the new phone? Whistleout's Gallup is not so sure.

"I really think people should consider the S8 as soon as the S9 is available, especially because the operators are offering deals and there seems to be little difference between the two," he said.

While people who want the latest camera technology find that the changes promised by the S9 are too convincing, the S8 cameras still produce high-quality photos. iPhone X and Google Pixel 2 outperform these S8 in-camera allusions we've done, but that does not change the fact that the S8 is still one of the best Android phone cameras, even a year after its first release.

The S9 will undoubtedly exceed S8, not just for its Snapdragon 845 processor, but also because Samsung is reported to have 6GB of RAM on the new phone. Even so, the Snapdragon 835 is still a high-performance processor that can handle anything it offers.

Also keep in mind that there is already a healthy accessories market for the Galaxy S8, while there may be some delays before housing manufacturers and other new offers for the latest Samsung phone can be obtained. Even the DeX Pad, a rumored accessory for Samsung that turns your phone into a mobile PC, should be compatible with older versions of older phones like the S8.

    Bottom line
The launch of a new flagship for last year's model largely depends on the features it values. If you trust that your smartphone will capture a lot of photos, the supposed improvements to the Galaxy S9 may be worth the extra cost. Also, consider how long you want to stay on your next phone. While the S8 can now support most applications, this may not be the case in 18 months, with the arrival of updated versions of Android and application providers launching more auctions with a lot of processors.

Still, the S9 does not seem to be a radical change from last year's major update, according to the specifications and features announced for the upcoming Samsung phone. If you can live without a few alarms, the current Galaxy S8 should be more than enough to meet your needs, especially with the price cuts ahead.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Review: World's Smartest Phones

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are anything but conformist. Unlike other flagship phones, you will not find the camera's two goals or side panels on these phones.

Instead, Google has focused on making the most smartphones in history. And based on my tests, the new pixels fit the description, with a versatile wizard that Google can now invoke compression and a new feature of object recognition in the application of the camera is really impressive.

Available through Verizon or Unlocked, Pixel 2 (from $ 649) and Pixel 2 XL ($ 849) also offer performance and first-class battery life and superb photo quality. Other smart features are implemented, including Pixel Buds headphones, which you can use as a Universal Translator. However, these pure terms of Oreo Android phones are not too cute, and we do not want Verizon operators to sell these suites directly.

    Design

"Send it away, it still needs more beveling" So I think that crazy conversation about the usual Pixel 2 was held at Google headquarters. At a time when other phones tend to approach their screens from one corner to the other, the front pixel 2 is a return to the worst sense.
I measured the upper and lower frames at more than 0.6 inches compared to 0.2 inches for the Galaxy S8. Nice to see, screen 5-inch OLED sandwiched between these big black glass blocks is outright offensive.

    Google Assistant: Squeezable and intelligent

When I heard about Active Edge Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, I thought it was a trick. But after spending only a few minutes, I changed my mind. With a firm and fast setting of the phone down, you can enable Google Assistants that are faster, more accurate, and more versatile than Siri.

For example, I said, "I play BoJack Horseman in the TV show," and Wizard Pixel 2 Google launched the Netflix app directly on the cartoon disturbed on my big screen. Of course, it helps to have a Chrome all connected together, but that's exactly the plan from Google: show you how your hardware and software works well together in your growing product ecosystem. Nest-Google also works with Google Assistants who can tell you "set the temperature to 68 degrees."

Displays: an update improves Pixel 2 XL

While Apple charges $ 999 for the privilege of owning a colorful OLED screen and enjoying the great viewing angles and perfect black X on the iPhone and the Galaxy OLED S8 starts charging at $ 750, you can get this Pixel 2 display technology for $ 649

The 5-inch pixel 2 screen is not the sharpest, with 1920 x 1080 pixels, and is much smaller than the Galaxy S8 5.8 inches, but produced an excellent 148 percent-range sRGB colors. When I saw the trailer for Star Wars: The last Jedi on Pixel 2's screen, the golden orange appeared around incredibly delicate eyes on its white fur and the reflection of two weapons shocking in silver helmet captain. Phasma looked beautiful.

    Google Lens: Amazing potential

While the Pixel Cameras 2 and Pixel 2 XL make big pictures, it's not what really brings out the photographic experience. It would be Google Lens, a feature of object recognition in the camera and in the Google Photos app.

Google's Pixel 2 lens makes it easy to spot landmarks like the Flatiron Building in New York. I only have one picture and then I hit the target icon at the bottom of the screen; Google Assistant then showed an information card in the building with information about Wikipedia

Cameras and image quality: big, but it's not a killer iPhone 8

If we just look at the sports cameras Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on the back of 12 megapixels, you may think they take pictures with one arm around their backs compared to cell phones with two goals. Nop. They are not, and that's because these phones are smart enough to offer a bokeh effect through software that also works on the front 8 megapixel camera phones.

The iPhone 8 Plus came with this shot on an outdoor artwork. The iPhone 8 Plus delivered a brighter picture with brighter oranges, blues, purples, and roses.

In the Lego store, it was an exit between Pixel 2 and iPhone 8 Plus. The image of a Lego man in a top hat taken by Google's cell phone provided more realistic sounds, while Apple's camera provided a brighter image.

The iPhone 8 Plus has won a Lantana flower in this close-up. The picture was brighter than the Pixel 2 XL picture, so it's easier to say that the sun was shining, though I could see a lot of detail on the sheets of both photos.

If you're an Android fan and are jealous of Apple's live photos, Pixel 2 Plus and Pixel 2 Plus will make your life fun. It captures a few seconds of video with each image and reproduces it with a loop effect, as I noticed in a photo I made with moving cars in the foreground.

Performance: The fastest speed in the real world

With the same Snapdragon 835 processor as the Galaxy S8 and the same 4GB of RAM as the Galaxy S8 and S8 +, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL should offer the same performance. In fact, they are faster in real tasks.

In our video editing test, when we recorded a 2-minute 4K video clip into 1080p in the Adobe Clips application, the Pixel 2 took 2 minutes and 55 seconds compared to 4:07 for the Galaxy S8. The Galaxy Note 8 needed 3:03 and this phone has 6GB of RAM. The Pixel 2 was not as fast as the iPhone 8 and its Bionic A11 chip, which took 42 seconds.

    Battery life: excellent

Both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL beat their opponents Apple and Samsung in resistance. Pixel 2 lasted 11 hours and 7 minutes in the Tom's Guide Battery Test, where 4G LTE (Verizon in this case) surfs the web all the time. The Pixel 2 XL lasted about an hour longer, at 12:09.

These runtimes are far above the average of 9:40 smartphones and exceeded the respective hours of the iPhone 8 (9:54) and the iPhone 8 Plus (11:16) as well as the Galaxy S8 (10:39) and the Galaxy S8 + ( 11: 04).
The Pixel 2 XL simply makes our list of the most durable phones. In addition, you can expect a longer battery life by choosing T-Mobile for your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, because we've found that phones in this network last longer.

Android Oreo: small updates (but welcome)

It's no surprise that Google's own phones are the first to ship with the new Android Oreo software. The updated operating system does not offer any dramatic improvements, but there are some new features that are worth it.

The new picture mode in the picture is not included. Although you can now run two applications side-by-side, you can use the image in the image to quit an application and display a window with one of the supported applications, such as YouTube and Google Maps. In the case of YouTube, you need to sign up for YouTube Red (9.99 euros per month) for this feature to work. I could easily pull a small window out of the reading window on the screen while working on another application, but I did not see it as very practical

Accessories: are not your average accessories

For many phones accessories are a last-minute idea, but not with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The new Pixel Buds ($ 159) are wireless headphones that you can use to talk to someone in your native language. These headphones, which use Google Translate and Google Assistant, help you phrase sentences in any of the 40 languages, and your Pixel 2 will say that phrase aloud so that the person you speak to can understand you.

    Bottom line

With Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL it is clear that Google has chosen AI as a weapon of choice in the fight against smartphones. Given the machine learning capabilities of the machine, it's a smart move that has paid off. I found Google Assistant in a few days more than Siri in a month with the iPhone, not only because I tested the new pixels. The Google assistant understood me, even though I did not say the right words, and I enjoyed being able to call him with a little pressure.

If you use other Google devices, such as Google Home Mini (which you get for free at this time, if you order Pixel 2) or Chrome, multiply the powers of the wizard. In a sense, Google is moving away from other Android phone manufacturers as it creates its own Apple-tree walled garden. This is a more useful fragmentation.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also enjoy higher performance than the Galaxy S8, front and rear star cameras and a long battery life. Overall, I prefer the smoother design and curved screens edge on the Galaxy and Galaxy S8 S8 + to the edge, 8 and iPhone Plus is still the king of camera phones. But if you want a pure Android experience, you'll love the Pixel 2 XL at $ 849. The Pixel 2 glasses are too big and their screen is too small to take this phone seriously, even for its relatively low price of $ 649.

Galaxy S9 vs. Pixel 2: Which Android Flagship Will Win?

Samsung should remove its Galaxy S9 and S9 + devices at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 25, but do not expect many surprises when the phone finally arrives. Almost every detail about Samsung's next generation of the best Android devices has been released in recent weeks, including photos of cell phones. (Spoiler alarm: little changed since S8).

Since the last round of Samsung phones, Google has increased the level of Android devices by introducing a new version of Pixel. Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL come with all sorts of features, from an object-detection killer camera to a compressible body that activates Google Assistant.

If the S9 surpasses the last few pixels, it must match the Google Camera's skill. Therefore, it is not surprising that Samsung has put a more advanced shooter on his newest phone. In fact, the company promises to "reinvent" the camera.

So we see the Galaxy S9 Stack over Pixel 2 according to the filtered specifications for the new Samsung phone. We'll have an even clearer picture of how both phones are standard after Samsung officially unveiled the S9 on February 25th.

    Cameras

Samsung reportedly relies heavily on S9 cameras to compete with Apple's latest iPhones and Pixel 2. The company's invitation to its Mobile World Congress event is themed "Camera Reimagined" and underscores the importance of Samsung. Give the camera this update of the Galaxy line.

The Galaxy S9 + is expected to have an impressive dual-lens reversing camera that has none of Google's Pixel Smartphones. Samsung has added two goals to its extra-wide Galaxy Note 8, which hit the market last fall. According to the famous shooter Evan Blass this feature should reach the slightly smaller S9 +. We hope that the secondary lens allows the same peaks as in note 8, including a live focus mode to focus on the objects while blurring the background. The telephoto lens of the S9 + should also support the optical zoom.

    Design and Displays

If you like the look of the Galaxy S8 and S8 +, you're in luck: it's reported that both versions of the S9 look almost identical to last year's models. It is expected that the infinity screen we like on the S8 will reach the S9.

The two new phones are likely to have thin frames at the top to line up the front camera, but we hope they're unremarkable. This is in direct contrast to the small pixel 2 surrounding its 5-inch OLED screen with frames thick enough to hold a fingerprint scanner (although Google places this sensor on the back of the phone). The Pixel 2 XL has finer bevels than its smaller brother, but it does not match the expected width of the S9 display, which is likely to extend to the edges and also fits the sides of the phone. Like the S8.

    Performance

Samsung is likely to be the first device maker to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 mobile processor, which could make the S9 the fastest Android phone on the market when released in March. The processor is also expected to make the S9 more efficient, safer, and extend the life of the battery, which we will test when we have the device in our hands.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are equipped with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, such as the S8 and S8 +. The Pixel 2 has lagged the Galaxy S8 in a Geekbench 4 performance test, but the Pixel 2 has faster video processing time than the Galaxy S8 and Note 8.

We will do several real-world tests and synthetic benchmarks on the Galaxy S9 to see how it accumulates.

    Special Features

Samsung and Google are working to differentiate their smartphones with voice-activated assistants.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have the Google Assistant, which is activated by pressing the sides of the devices. Google Assistant uses the way you use Google services to answer your questions and provide useful information.

Samsung's Bixby is not yet at this level, much less so. But according to reports, Samsung is working to improve its wizard and make it more relevant in the S9 interface, rather than being a separate service that is not well integrated with the rest of the phone. In the Galaxy S8, Bixby is activated with its own side button, but rumor has it that Samsung is integrating its assistant more evenly into the phone interface. It could be called AI UX.

Pixels also have smarter cameras with a feature called Google Lens that can detect objects in photos and give you more information about them. It's not clear if Samsung has something similar for the S9, but Google has hinted that the feature could reach other Android phones.

    Bottom line

We do not have all the details about the S9, though we know that the fastest processor and redesigned camera system will do much to make Pixel 2 better. Rumor has it that the S9 will likely surpass Google. Call the design and the performance. It remains to be seen whether he can take over the crown of the Pixel 2 camera or whether Bixby can improve his game.

We will update this story with more information when Samsung introduces the Galaxy S9 and S9 + on February 25th.

How to Use Animoji on the iPhone X

There is no better way to show that you have an iPhone X (and not your friends) than by sending Animoji messages to them. Of course, Animoji is more than a way to create the efficient use of energy from your iPhone: it is also a way for users of the iPhone X to add more momentum to conversations in messages.

Animoji is a new application that lets you send animated pictures of 12 characters of emoji. The smart thing is that with the iPhone X face recognition software, the facial expressions of the animated emoji characters are the same as yours. You become emoji!

How to use Animoji on the iPhone X.

Open News and tap on the Animoji app

The only place to do Animoji is in the news application. Run messages, then look at the text entry box at the bottom of the screen. If the keyboard is currently displayed, touch the application icon immediately to the left of the text entry box.

If the keyboard is not visible, you should see a small set of application icons at the bottom of the screen. Find your messaging apps, including sticker packs (included with iOS 10), music, digital touch, and more. The animoji icon is the face of a monkey. Tap here to access the Animoji app.

    Choose your character

On the left side of the Animoji app, you will find a drop-down list of all available Animoji characters. There are 12: monkey, robot, cat, dog, alien, fox, craps, pig, panda, rabbit, chicken and unicorn. Touch one and replace the current face displayed in the main Animoji area.

    Expand for a full-screen view

By default, Animoji works in the lower third of the screen below your conversations. To switch to full-screen mode, tap the expansion arrow at the top of the Animoji box, just below the text entry box. The screen is filled with 12 Animoji symbols as well as a larger stage for the currently selected Animoji.

    Hold your phone and ask

Once you start the Animoji app, make sure you hold your phone so the front camera can see your face. Then you can pose and see your facial expressions in the animated character on the screen.

Apple has done a remarkable job by depicting different facial expressions in different parts of the characters so you can find the expression that will give you something different to reflect from your character Animoji. (For example, if you puff your cheeks while selecting the robot, your ears will shoot out of your head).

    Record a 10-second video message

The most common way to share an animoji is to record a 10-second video message. To begin recording, touch the red dot in the lower left corner of the Animoji window. You will see a countdown that starts in 10 seconds. You can press the button again to stop recording if it ends 10 seconds later.

Once you're done, you will immediately see your animoji message playing. If you hate it, tap the trash icon on the right side of the screen. If you want to see it again, tap the play icon. If you want to send the message to the person you are talking to, tap the blue shipping icon. (People without iMessage receive a link to a video file).

Change the animoji you used after shooting

If you like the shot you made, but want to try it with other Animoji characters, you can do it. After recording, just select another character in the left menu and the video will play with the face of the new character.

    Send a sticker

Videos are not the only way to share Animoji. Each Animoji face can be a freeze frame that you can send to a friend. To send a still image, simply touch the face of Animoji on the screen when you ask for it, and that image will be included in your message. You can also touch and drag your face out of the Animoji window and paste it into the conversation as a sticker.

Save your Animoji videos for later.

If you find one of your videos particularly funny or want to use it elsewhere, you can save it as a video file. Just hold down the Animoji video until a menu pops up, then tap Save. The video will be added to your movie so it syncs with all your devices and is available everywhere

Here's the Galaxy S9's Answer to Animoji

Apple clearly wins the Emoji race thanks to Animoji 3D technology. But now Samsung is working on something that could compete with it.

The upcoming Galaxy S9 + S9 and Samsung Galaxy devices will be using 3D Emoji technology much like Animoji, the Korean news ETNews cites, citing people who claim to know their plans. The report adds that Samsung will also be offering Galaxy S9 series stereo speakers, another feature that will keep pace with Apple's iPhone X.

According to the report The Verge previously discovered, the 3D emoji feature allows the phone to track your facial movements as you speak and make funny faces. Similar to the Animoji feature of the iPhone X, you can choose from a variety of characters, including animals that can be sent to others with your message.

However, we do not know what will stimulate the Galaxy S9 3D emoji function. Apple's technology is only possible thanks to the iPhone's 3D Face ID 3D camera, and Samsung is reportedly planning a 2D face scanner similar to the Galaxy S8 range last year.

In another allusion to the iPhone X, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 + are also supplied with two speakers, according to ETnews report. One of these speakers is at the top and the other at the bottom, which allows a stereo sound. The report comes just one day after SamMobile has reported that Samsung is planning to build speakers with AKG-matched Dolby Surround technology.

The ETNews report did not specify these features, but since Samsung owns AKG, the department should use speaker technology in one way or another.

Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + on February 25, before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In addition to the above features, it is expected that the new Samsung phones will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a dual-lens camera and a design that is almost identical to the Galaxy S8 last year.

Look for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + in store shelves in mid-March.
