Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Review: World's Smartest Phones

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are anything but conformist. Unlike other flagship phones, you will not find the camera's two goals or side panels on these phones.

Instead, Google has focused on making the most smartphones in history. And based on my tests, the new pixels fit the description, with a versatile wizard that Google can now invoke compression and a new feature of object recognition in the application of the camera is really impressive.

Available through Verizon or Unlocked, Pixel 2 (from $ 649) and Pixel 2 XL ($ 849) also offer performance and first-class battery life and superb photo quality. Other smart features are implemented, including Pixel Buds headphones, which you can use as a Universal Translator. However, these pure terms of Oreo Android phones are not too cute, and we do not want Verizon operators to sell these suites directly.

Design

"Send it away, it still needs more beveling" So I think that crazy conversation about the usual Pixel 2 was held at Google headquarters. At a time when other phones tend to approach their screens from one corner to the other, the front pixel 2 is a return to the worst sense.
I measured the upper and lower frames at more than 0.6 inches compared to 0.2 inches for the Galaxy S8. Nice to see, screen 5-inch OLED sandwiched between these big black glass blocks is outright offensive.

Google Assistant: Squeezable and intelligent

When I heard about Active Edge Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, I thought it was a trick. But after spending only a few minutes, I changed my mind. With a firm and fast setting of the phone down, you can enable Google Assistants that are faster, more accurate, and more versatile than Siri.

For example, I said, "I play BoJack Horseman in the TV show," and Wizard Pixel 2 Google launched the Netflix app directly on the cartoon disturbed on my big screen. Of course, it helps to have a Chrome all connected together, but that's exactly the plan from Google: show you how your hardware and software works well together in your growing product ecosystem. Nest-Google also works with Google Assistants who can tell you "set the temperature to 68 degrees."

Displays: an update improves Pixel 2 XL

While Apple charges $ 999 for the privilege of owning a colorful OLED screen and enjoying the great viewing angles and perfect black X on the iPhone and the Galaxy OLED S8 starts charging at $ 750, you can get this Pixel 2 display technology for $ 649

The 5-inch pixel 2 screen is not the sharpest, with 1920 x 1080 pixels, and is much smaller than the Galaxy S8 5.8 inches, but produced an excellent 148 percent-range sRGB colors. When I saw the trailer for Star Wars: The last Jedi on Pixel 2's screen, the golden orange appeared around incredibly delicate eyes on its white fur and the reflection of two weapons shocking in silver helmet captain. Phasma looked beautiful.

Google Lens: Amazing potential

While the Pixel Cameras 2 and Pixel 2 XL make big pictures, it's not what really brings out the photographic experience. It would be Google Lens, a feature of object recognition in the camera and in the Google Photos app.

Google's Pixel 2 lens makes it easy to spot landmarks like the Flatiron Building in New York. I only have one picture and then I hit the target icon at the bottom of the screen; Google Assistant then showed an information card in the building with information about Wikipedia

Cameras and image quality: big, but it's not a killer iPhone 8

If we just look at the sports cameras Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on the back of 12 megapixels, you may think they take pictures with one arm around their backs compared to cell phones with two goals. Nop. They are not, and that's because these phones are smart enough to offer a bokeh effect through software that also works on the front 8 megapixel camera phones.

The iPhone 8 Plus came with this shot on an outdoor artwork. The iPhone 8 Plus delivered a brighter picture with brighter oranges, blues, purples, and roses.

In the Lego store, it was an exit between Pixel 2 and iPhone 8 Plus. The image of a Lego man in a top hat taken by Google's cell phone provided more realistic sounds, while Apple's camera provided a brighter image.

The iPhone 8 Plus has won a Lantana flower in this close-up. The picture was brighter than the Pixel 2 XL picture, so it's easier to say that the sun was shining, though I could see a lot of detail on the sheets of both photos.

If you're an Android fan and are jealous of Apple's live photos, Pixel 2 Plus and Pixel 2 Plus will make your life fun. It captures a few seconds of video with each image and reproduces it with a loop effect, as I noticed in a photo I made with moving cars in the foreground.

Performance: The fastest speed in the real world

With the same Snapdragon 835 processor as the Galaxy S8 and the same 4GB of RAM as the Galaxy S8 and S8 +, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL should offer the same performance. In fact, they are faster in real tasks.

In our video editing test, when we recorded a 2-minute 4K video clip into 1080p in the Adobe Clips application, the Pixel 2 took 2 minutes and 55 seconds compared to 4:07 for the Galaxy S8. The Galaxy Note 8 needed 3:03 and this phone has 6GB of RAM. The Pixel 2 was not as fast as the iPhone 8 and its Bionic A11 chip, which took 42 seconds.

Battery life: excellent

Both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL beat their opponents Apple and Samsung in resistance. Pixel 2 lasted 11 hours and 7 minutes in the Tom's Guide Battery Test, where 4G LTE (Verizon in this case) surfs the web all the time. The Pixel 2 XL lasted about an hour longer, at 12:09.

These runtimes are far above the average of 9:40 smartphones and exceeded the respective hours of the iPhone 8 (9:54) and the iPhone 8 Plus (11:16) as well as the Galaxy S8 (10:39) and the Galaxy S8 + ( 11: 04).
The Pixel 2 XL simply makes our list of the most durable phones. In addition, you can expect a longer battery life by choosing T-Mobile for your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, because we've found that phones in this network last longer.

Android Oreo: small updates (but welcome)

It's no surprise that Google's own phones are the first to ship with the new Android Oreo software. The updated operating system does not offer any dramatic improvements, but there are some new features that are worth it.

The new picture mode in the picture is not included. Although you can now run two applications side-by-side, you can use the image in the image to quit an application and display a window with one of the supported applications, such as YouTube and Google Maps. In the case of YouTube, you need to sign up for YouTube Red (9.99 euros per month) for this feature to work. I could easily pull a small window out of the reading window on the screen while working on another application, but I did not see it as very practical

Accessories: are not your average accessories

For many phones accessories are a last-minute idea, but not with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The new Pixel Buds ($ 159) are wireless headphones that you can use to talk to someone in your native language. These headphones, which use Google Translate and Google Assistant, help you phrase sentences in any of the 40 languages, and your Pixel 2 will say that phrase aloud so that the person you speak to can understand you.

Bottom line

With Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL it is clear that Google has chosen AI as a weapon of choice in the fight against smartphones. Given the machine learning capabilities of the machine, it's a smart move that has paid off. I found Google Assistant in a few days more than Siri in a month with the iPhone, not only because I tested the new pixels. The Google assistant understood me, even though I did not say the right words, and I enjoyed being able to call him with a little pressure.

If you use other Google devices, such as Google Home Mini (which you get for free at this time, if you order Pixel 2) or Chrome, multiply the powers of the wizard. In a sense, Google is moving away from other Android phone manufacturers as it creates its own Apple-tree walled garden. This is a more useful fragmentation.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also enjoy higher performance than the Galaxy S8, front and rear star cameras and a long battery life. Overall, I prefer the smoother design and curved screens edge on the Galaxy and Galaxy S8 S8 + to the edge, 8 and iPhone Plus is still the king of camera phones. But if you want a pure Android experience, you'll love the Pixel 2 XL at $ 849. The Pixel 2 glasses are too big and their screen is too small to take this phone seriously, even for its relatively low price of $ 649.
