Apple to remove iTunes Store support from older Windows PCs and Apple TVs

In a recent article published by Apple, the company will discontinue support for the iTunes Store on Windows XP and Vista PCs and the first generation of Apple TV. The company in Cupertino says the next changes are due to security updates that will come into force on May 25th.

According to Apple, recently introduced security changes prevent old PCs from accessing the iTunes Store. Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer officially compatible with Microsoft and the latest version of iTunes is not even available for these operating systems.

"As of May 25, Apple will introduce security changes that prevent more than Windows PCs with the iTunes Store. If you have a PC running Windows XP or Vista, your computer will be more supported by Microsoft and will not be able to use the latest version of iTunes "

"You can still use older versions of iTunes on your Windows PC without Apple support, but you can not make new purchases in the iTunes Store or download new purchases to this computer."

In addition, Apple TV of the first generation loses support for the iTunes Store. This comes after Apple said the first generation of Apple TV was "out of date" in 2015.

"As of May 25, Apple's first-generation Apple TV will be prevented from using the iTunes Store, which is an obsolete Apple product and will not be updated, to support these security changes."
