Samsung's Foldable Galaxy X Design Tipped in New Patent

Samsung has confirmed that it is working on a foldable Galaxy X smartphone that, according to the company, will not be a "thing". But exactly how it works is unknown.

A new patent application adds another to Samsung's plans.

The tech giant has received a design patent for a new foldable phone design that they previously reported on the news, according to Patently Mobile and SamMobile. The technology describes a method that would allow the smartphone to have an all-around screen and generally remain closed. If you want to use it, just open it and unfold the screen to reveal a smartphone with a wider viewing area.

Samsung says it is working on a collapsible smartphone that is probably calling the Galaxy X. But the company has not revealed how the smartphone could be removed.

Most reports have suggested that your smartphone double when you stop using it or do not need a larger screen. Some other reports have said that the Samsung phone will have a standard screen that can be expanded to a tablet size whenever you need it.
Samsung, of course, does not disclose the exact plans. Instead, the company has confirmed that it is working on a new phone that will be launched this year. It has also been confirmed that the smartphone will have a folding design.

There are other interesting things in the patent. On the one hand, it seems to come with physical buttons on the screen, suggesting that the Samsung phone could have pretty big glasses. Some side buttons are also visible where you turn them off and turn the volume on. And since this is a drop-down design, it seems to be quite thick when the screen is closed.

Still, it's impossible to know if a deployable Galaxy X is really up and running. Like other leading technology companies, Samsung is constantly registering patents. And although these patented technologies sometimes come on the market, it often happens that this is not the case.

Fortunately, we do not have to wait long to find out: Samsung has already said it will launch the Galaxy X this year.
