When Is Your Smartphone Getting Android 8.0 Oreo?

Android 8.0 Oreo offers a number of notable enhancements to Google's mobile operating system, from image-to-image multitasking to smarter notifications and faster overall performance. But as so often with the most important Android updates, not everyone has access to Oreo.

In mid-January, the updated operating system is missing from the vast majority of new smartphones on the market today. At the moment, according to Google estimates, less than 1% of Android devices use Oreo. This equates to a quarter of Android devices with nougat and nearly 30 percent with marshmallow.

But good news: the numbers will change in 2018. To find out how fast we are, we get answers from the major Android phone manufacturers to see when you can expect Oreo to arrive and which phones will receive the update.

Google

Google phones are still the first to receive new Android updates. Therefore, it is no surprise that the company's three generations of the company's flagship product, Huawei Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, have received Oreo.

Over the years, Google has been supporting its smartphones with new system updates for two years. Fortunately, this window gets longer, starting with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. In the future, Google will be making new versions of Android available to its devices three years after launch. This means that the Duo Pixel 2 will finally see Android R in 2020. Meanwhile, first-generation Pixel owners may expect a new update in the fall of 2018, while Nexus 6P customers will see the end of their useful lives. from your cellphone.

OnePlus

OnePlus has been rightly criticized for failing to keep its promises to update its products in a timely manner (or in the case of OnePlus 2). Luckily, he did a good job at Oreo. OnePlus 3 and 3T received Android 8.0 with OxygenOS 5.0 as of November. Reports of frequent crashes, unstable network connections and frustration forced the company to abandon the introduction of its new phones.

OnePlus came back in the New Year and released Oreo for the other two phones programmed to get it. The OnePlus 5 was released on January 9, followed by the OnePlus 5T on January 31.

Samsung

When it comes to Android updates, Samsung usually plays cards near his chest and refuses to make a concrete announcement as to when users can wait. The company recently launched Oreo Betas for the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8, and after we started publishing the final version of the S8 series in limited markets in Europe in the second week of February, we were confident long before it appears on our devices.

It turned out that Samsung took the update almost immediately after the release, said SamMobile. The reason for this is not clear right now, though the few people who have already downloaded and installed Oreo can still use it on their cell phones until Samsung releases a new version.

When it comes to older phones, we hope that the iconic ships like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge as well as the biennial Note 5 will also see Android 8.0, but the beta versions of these devices have not been released yet. The same thing happens with Galaxy J, A and C of the lower cost areas of the business. Of course, the Galaxy S9, which is yet to be announced, will likely have Oreo when it's unveiled on February 25th. The phone should go on sale in March.

Sony

Sony was on a brilliant run to keep all its latest equipment up to date. The company has already brought its flagships for 2017, Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, onboard with Oreo. Later in December, there were updates for the Xperia XZ 2016 as well as for X Performance. Sony even makes it incredibly easy to track its implementation process, with release notes for each template available on the company's Web site.

As of February 5, the last 8.0 are the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact. Sony has completed the delivery of Oreo to its flagship in 2016. The only remaining devices on the list are the XA1 series.
