The Reasons Why iPhone X is (Still) the Best Phone

There has been much discussion about the success of the iPhone X since its launch last year. On the one hand, it was one of the best-selling smartphones in December 2017 worldwide, according to Kantar Worldpanel. However, other reports suggest that Apple will halve production in the first part of this year due to weak sales. So, is it a success or a failure?

Apple's iPhone sales remain stable year after year, according to Apple's first fiscal quarter results, but the iPhone X is a star. "The iPhone X has exceeded our expectations and has been our bestselling iPhone every week since its release in November," said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a press release.

It turns out that the most important question is not how the iPhone X was sold, at least not for smartphone buyers. A more important concern is whether Apple makes the best phone and whether it should buy it. And the answers are "yes" and "yes". That's why.

1. The best screen
It's ironic that Apple's main competitor, Samsung, is producing the OLED panel for the iPhone X. But after our tests and comparisons of screens side by side with other phones, the Apple Super Retina display of 5, 8 inches on the iPhone X It is the best.
The colors are vibrant, but also very accurate, and the screen looks brighter and has larger viewing angles than other big flagships.

2. Top-level cameras
In the confrontation of our camera between the iPhone X and Pixel 2, the Google phone was around the neck with Apple's flagship and actually passed in low light. But the double-back cameras on the iPhone X offer more natural portraits and their colors were more realistic and shiny in some cases.

At least for now, the iPhone X is our top camera phone. Come back as soon as the Galaxy S9 has been delivered.

3. Face recognition goes beyond fingerprints
It is good that phone manufacturers are working to integrate the fingerprint reader into the screen, but what happens if you have crumbs, sweat or grease on your fingers? You will experience the same problems as the current sensors. Just look at your phone and swipe upwards with the iPhone X Face ID. And it does seem like it will take some time for other companies to catch up with Apple's TrueDepth camera and machine learning techniques.

4. It's the fastest phone
Well, the same Bionic A11 chip drives the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, but I prefer to compare the speed of this processor with a much better screen and design.

In real tests and synthetic benchmarks, the iPhone X is far ahead of all Android phones. And while the Snapdragon 845 chip is supposed to close the gap when it starts to appear on new phones, the results suggest that Apple will have a comfortable advantage for a while.

5. Good quality control
With the exception of an early bug that prevents users from using the iPhone X in cold climates (Apple has responded with an update), there have not been many major complaints Apple flagship. Compare this to a phone like Pixel 2, which seems to have discovered a new bug every week in the first few months of launch. As Vlad Savov writes for The Verge, "the lack of indignation and complaints about the iPhone X, especially in our time, where the offensive is the best way to be heard, is a great achievement for Apple."

To be fair, iOS 11 had a lot of problems, including security issues. But Apple has responded in time with updates.

Bottom line
At $ 999, the iPhone X is definitely not for everyone. And it's not perfect either. Without a start button, the gestures need some time to get used to it. And the score on top of the screen can be a horror if you use applications with a white background. But in general, Apple deserves recognition for designing a 10th anniversary that will live up to expectations.
