The Korean tech giant announced on Tuesday (19 December) the Galaxy A8 and the Galaxy A8 +. The devices are definitely similar to this year's Galaxy S8, with thin bevels that leave no room for a physical launch button on the screen.
They also come in two flavors, the standard model with a 5.6-inch screen and the Galaxy A8 + with a 6-inch screen. Add it to its octa-core processors, and the Galaxy A8 could be an attractive alternative to the more expensive S8 line when it arrives in January.
But the Galaxy A8 also has big changes in its design. On the one hand, the devices have a fingerprint sensor, which is located under the rear camera and not on one side. Better yet, the fingerprint sensor seems to be very similar to the images we saw for the Galaxy S9 sensor. It's possible that the same component that will come to Samsung's flagship next year is included in the Galaxy A8.
In addition, there is a surprise on the front of the Galaxy A8: a dual-lens camera. The camera has a single camera with a rear lens, but with 16 and 8 megapixel shutter in the front. It is assumed that the Galaxy S9 + comes with two rear cameras, but two front cameras were not tilted. Samsung's decision on the Galaxy A8 could suggest a change.
Of course, Samsung does not say what its plans for the Galaxy S9 could be and what not if the Galaxy A8 provides clues to the future. But thankfully, we do not have to wait long for an answer: Samsung should announce the Galaxy S9 series in February and launch it shortly after March. In the meantime, look for more rumors about what Samsung might have planned for its next flagship.
