Freedom 251-11A was told about Ringing Bells, the company behind the notorious Freedom 251. A phone that has almost reached a mythical status because of its ambiguity. While the company says that it has begun to send phones, the widespread availability remains a problem. We have a rating unit to give you the best of what the Freedom 251 is all about.
Design
A smartphone that costs less at Starbucks than a knock-out makes you forget prejudices about details like design. However, the Freedom 251 is not a bad phone, and if it's a consolation it certainly does not feel like a device that costs Rs. The design has remained functional, and that definitely comes in his favor.
On the front is a 4-inch IPS display with medium-sized panels left and right. Below the screen, however, there is a rather large lip, which also contains the menu, the start and the capacitive back buttons. The upper part is a front camera of 0.3MP and a very interesting proximity sensor. The screen does not have any type of protective glass, but it would be too much to expect the price. The plastic screen attracts a lot of fingerprints
The back of the phone tends to stain. That said, the back of the hard plastic stamping is good enough to hold. The mesh pattern on the back also prevents slipping by hand
Software
There's Android 5.1 on board with a custom UI level and something more to tell. You will not get any ingenious feature based on the software, but fortunately there is not too much swelling.
The skin is quite simple, and for the most part it's just hiding icons, even though we would have avoided that for even better performance.
The Performance
The deciding factor for each device is its performance, and in the case of Freedom 251 this seems particularly true. Nobody expects this plane to take the flagship or the middle class or the truth, even a boarding plane. Freedom 251 would be a success if it can be evenly smooth with a basic workload. The phone runs on a 1.3GHz Quad Core MediaTek MT6580M processor with Mali-400MP GPUs and from a performance standpoint, the news is good and not so good. With a fresh and clean start, the Freedom 251 is very fluid thanks to the user interface
The Display
Look at it from the beginning and the screen in the Freedom 251 can go through as usable. Although it is an IPS panel, the quality is miserable here. The viewing angles are absolutely terrible and there is a massive color change as you move the screen to the sides.
The brightness levels are also rather low and you will have difficulty distinguishing the outside screen. Due to the lack of protection, the screen is very sensitive to scratches.
The camera
While Ringing Bells says that the Freedom 251 is equipped with a 3.2 MP camera, the integrated software brings it closer to 2MP. Anyway, the quality of the picture is so bad that you probably will not have to worry about it anyway.
Connectivity and battery life
The connectivity options of the Freedom 251 include WiFi 802.11b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. For what it's worth, we've never seen any problems on this front and the phone has been able to sustain a solid signal. Apart from the slow performance of Google Maps on the phone, the phone has also retained a pretty solid GPS lock.
Conclusion
We've entered freedom with zero expectations 251. In fact, the idea of selling a phone for Rs. 251 seems so disbelieving that you have to remember it each time you pick it up. For most of our demanding viewers, this would be a novelty or just something to play with, but the fact is that Ringing Bells wants it as the first smartphone for the masses of India.
